South West Community Alcohol and Drug Service

Our South West Community Alcohol and Drug Service (SWCADS) offers easily accessible counselling and support for people with drug and alcohol issues and their families free of charge.

We also provide consultation, shared case management, education, strategic support and training for Western Australia’s south west communities.

We work closely with a range of services including mental health services, medical and other health professionals, corrective services, other human service providers, local governments and local community groups.

Since our inception in 1998, we have identified gaps within existing community services and developed initiatives to meet those needs, with funding provided by St John of God Health Care and the WA Government.

Prevention

Two of our key priorities are alcohol and other drug prevention, and suicide prevention. Our prevention coordinators act as central point for the south west community to access prevention services and are funded by the WA Mental Health Commission.
