The Buttery’s long-term residential rehab program operates as a Therapeutic Community where the community of residents itself promotes personal change through self-help and mutual support. Co-located on its Binna Burra Campus is the MTA (Maintenance To Abstinence) rehab program. It is for people currently being maintained on opioid substitutes who wish to move to an abstinence-based lifestyle.
All Buttery programs are evidence-based and represent best-practice. The Buttery is an independent, community-based charitable organisation. The Buttery is not affiliated with any religious or political group.
The Buttery’s programs in the community cover a wide area in northern NSW. These are: INTRA for adults and teenagers with drug and alcohol abuse problems; CORE a day-stay rehab program in Lismore, Byron Bay and Tweed Heads; the Young People’s Alcohol & Other Drugs Early Intervention Project in the Bellingen and Grafton areas; b.well an outreach service for teenagers and adults with mental health and substance abuse issues; Partners in Recovery for people with long-term mental health issues (operated in conjunction with Mission Australia) and The Northern Rivers Gambling Counselling Service. The Buttery’s Family Program is a free counselling service funded wholly by philanthropic support for the family members of Buttery residents and those in the wider community.
